Frank Zappa's 1978 European tour rig was a relay-switched rack run from a floor controller. It split the guitar into clean and dirty outputs and added a Big Muff Pi, an MXR digital delay, a Roland Space Echo, an Eventide H949 and a Mu-Tron Bi-Phase.

## Reconstruction note

Studio Sound interviewed guitar technician David Gray while the system was being prepared and documented its signal split, jump-loop relay design, four outputs and named processor inventory. Dweezil Zappa independently confirms the multi-amp plus clean-DI architecture and the Big Muff, MXR delay, Eventide Harmonizer and dbx compression families. The display represents the named effect loops, not a fixed cable order: Gray stated that the modules were regularly repatched to test combinations. Buffers, Alembic preamp, Yamaha mixer, VCA blend controls, Burwen and Clear Sound integrity modules and the 24-switch remote are documented but omitted as routing utilities.
