## Signal chain

**Order evidence — Source-described.** A source states the sequence.

No pedals are documented in this signal path.

## Reconstruction note

In Vintage Guitar's July 1998 interview, Rush names Gibson semi-hollows and Fender Strats, calls the old 4x10 Bassman all he ever needed, and says he was then alternating Mesa/Boogie and Victoria amplifiers. The same article explicitly warns that his shimmering vibrato can be mistaken for amplifier tremolo even though it comes from his hands. Premier Guitar's independent retrospective records an eyewitness New York club performance in 1998 with an ES-335 and confirms his late-career Mesa/Boogie preference, but does not trace the cable. No cited source names an inline pedal for this 1998 core, so the archive presents it as direct while limiting the claim to that documented setup rather than every Rush session or appearance.

## Questions

### Did Otis Rush use effects pedals in 1998?

No effects pedals are documented in this path. The archive records the guitar going straight into the amplifier, so the sound comes from the instrument, the amp and the player's hands.

### When and where was this guitar rig used?

1998 touring core. Late-1990s live rig. This is the core signal path documented for that period, not a career-wide gear list.

### How does the archive know what was on this guitar rig?

2 cited sources, listed above with the date each was read, including Vintage Guitar, Premier Guitar. Among them an interview and a written article. The units are recorded as documented equipment, and the page was last audited on 2026-07-18.
