Mark Knopfler

Knopfler's guitar entered an offstage preamp and switcher, visited a small remotely bypassed effects board, returned through volume and compression inserts, then reached a programmable rack delay and one of four amplifiers.

Guy Fletcher published the rack photograph and described the song-by-song recall workflow. The specialist analysis identifies the insert order as stage FX, volume pedal, 160A compressor and 2290 delay; an eyewitness identifies the three pedals in the stage FX loop. Their order relative to the rack is documented, but their order inside that loop is not cable-traced, so the displayed booster/tremolo/vibe sequence is reconstructed. Spare duplicate rack units and the remote loop controller are omitted.
